Changing Gang Behavior From The Inside Out®

N'STEP at The State of Today's "Youth" Town Hall Meeting, hosted by Congressman Danny K. Davis.

Today-February 20,2016-at The State of Today’s “Youth” Town Hall Meeting-convened by Congressman Danny Davis-your voices were heard. It was my pleasure to have had representatives from both N'STEP® and Le'Taxione™Publishing-that took part in the panel for this most Imperative discussion. Through the wisdom of Congressman Davis-you were afforded not only the opportunity-but the right to voice your concerns from your perspective. Too many times organizations attempt to articulate your position for you-and this results in conclusions that may garner them funding-but does not truly reflect your needs.

It is imperative that your reality-as articulated and defined by you-is taken into account when any suggested remedy is put forth on your behalf. You can no longer allow any organization to speak on your behalf unless they've first listened to you-overstand your needs-and put forth your ideas on how to change the circumstances that surround your existence

N'STEP® is proud to have been afforded the opportunity to meet you where you are and assist you in the daunting task of "CHANGING GANG BEHAVIOR FROM THE INSIDE OUT"®-and will continue to represent your position to organizations of social justice and change-that they may have a more comprehensive concept of your reality-that we are listening to you-instead of talking at you.

Continue to strive hard against being socialized into criminality and know that "The perceived power that one experiences through acts of violence are nothing more than a placebo affect-for violence does not bring about true power-on the contrary-violence brings you face to face with the graveyard or the prison yard and in both places you are rendered powerless".

-Le'Taxione™ CEO -N'STEP®

We are honored to exercise organizational unity with Congressman Davis, the residents of the 7th District of Illinois, youth workers, community developers, and all committed to the eradication of gang violence.

Congressman Davis Facts Sheet

To inform youth on the resources and tools needed for them to make better decisions for themselves and ultimately attain a more promising future.

• Youth violence is the third leading cause of death for young people between the ages of 15 and 24

•4,787 young people ages 10 to 24, were victims of homicide. (an average of 13 each day.)

•19.6% of high school students reported being bullied on school property and 14.8% reported being bullied electronically.

•Over 599,000 young people ages 10 to 24, had physical assault injuries treated in U.S. emergency departments. (an average of 1642 each day. )

•Each year, youth homicides and assault-related injuries result in an estimated $16 billion in combined medical and work loss cost.

I often share that, “ An ounce of prevention is greater then a pound of cure”!! Our ultimate goal is to stop youth violence before it starts. Several prevention strategies have been identified.

•Social-development strategies teach our youth how to handle tough social situations. They learn how to resolve problems without using violence.

•Parent and family-based programs improve family relations.

•Mentoring programs pair an adult with a youth, the adult serves as a positive role model and aids in guiding positive youth behavior.

•Changes can be made to the physical and social environment. These changes address the social and economic causes of violence.

•Congressman Danny K. Davis will host a series of Townhall Meetings sharing information on;
•Healthy relationships dealing with friendships, youth parenting, effective communication and conflict resolution .
